@realestninja@social.linux.pizza yeah the whole thing comes with a price, and installation times usually aren't the biggest issue on upgrades even, but rather evaluation. On the other hand, there is a lot of immeasurable time save regarding the reproducibility, so there's that. I don't know where I wrote this, but I do sometimes miss pacman's simplicity and speed (used Arch for 15 years until switching to NixOS in 2023), wouldn't go back but pacman is still nice
