Does Sony run real PS3 hardware for streaming PS3 games, or use emulation?
The PS3’s custom Cell/B.E. processor is a one‑off thing, no longer in active production, same goes for hardware which goes along with it. Supply chains should be really thin for it.
I think likely they are emulating, in-house emulator or a fork of FOSS emulators like RPCS3. Much easier to keep those data centers maintainable and supported.
