@LJClements8@universeodon.com it definitely appears targeted, although committing an assault is included in the legal definition of burglary.. The crime report does also mention they were expecting to get prison and even discussing who would look after a dog (presumably when its owners were inside) - it does seem like it may have been done to teach someone a lesson as much as just get a watch, but was it really worth serving that much time for? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burglary_in_English_law
