Doing a Stargate Atlantis rewatch at the moment with commentaries, and I genuinely believe that if you want to create TV/Film on any level, this is the best training you could possibly have. Currently watching the commentary for The Long Goodbye, and they're talking about the deliberate specific choices that were made by Torri Higginson, down to her *hairstyle*, so that you-the-audience would go back later and say "Oh. Yeah. Of course. Should have realised all along."
