Thanks to OP for sharing this cautionary tale and thanks to everybody in here giving helpful advice.
I would like to self-host everything but y'all are scaring me off email.

Self hosting email goes in one of 3 directions: - fuck, half of my critical services think I am spam - fuck, why did I spend so much time for this shitty inherently unprotectable shit (email is unencrypted) - this is great and I love it! (Who are you people??)
