In the Netherlands, blocking a bike lane for passenger drop-off is a traffic violation, full stop. The "too high a bar" answer reveals exactly which users Waymo designed for. This isn't a technical limitation. It's a values choice baked in from the start.

@erwinrossen@mas.to And a taxi without a driver not respecting a bike lane in Amsterdam can expect expensive damages inflicted by bicyclists. After all, there is no driver in the taxi that can react physically.
