Same. The word Yankee means the following to me, in order of most to least relevant: A member of the New York Yankees. A derogatory term that people from the Bible Belt who still haven’t accepted the result of the American Civil War use for people who live north of the Mason-Dixon Line. A more neutral (maybe slightly derogatory?) term that people from the UK use for all Americans, regardless of where they live in the US. I have never heard someone refer to a New Englander as a Yankee.
