@nicksilkey@hachyderm.io I’m pretty sure there’s an RFC stating no less than 2, but not sure what it is. From practical experience, the max is dictated by the TLD. Some ccTLDs I’ve used allow no more than 4.

    @rmbolger@mastodon.social @nicksilkey@hachyderm.io there is the best practice of not less than two for redundancy no single point of failure. But the only upper bound guideline that I’ve seen is what will fit in a single reply packet without truncation. Remember it used to be 512 bytes was the smallest common denominator. Not it’s larger but I’m not sure what.
