Speaking of which, Tombow makes some inexpensive caps for when you toss a pencil in your bag. They keep your point and help you not poke yourself. And they connect to each other!

These are just the pencils I gravitate towards most for drawing and writing, but there are so many other wonderful (and affordable) options out there. Musgrave Pencils is my favorite US manufacturer, I especially like the Tennessee Round.
