@statsguy@mas.to often there is consequence for such action, but because it has to grind it's way through the courts, the government goes through the entire “getting away with it” cycle, from ‘turning the dial and looking at the audience,’ though ‘emboldened, doubling down,’ all the way to ‘this is how things have always been,’ before the appeals are exhausted and the judgements are finalised.
