@garrowed@mastodon.world it was and going under the railway just upstream was always interesting but we normally turned around then. Once we were able to go through the Feeder Canal to the Avon and on to Ariel Rowing Club. It was a bit surreal. We'd go all the way down to the Cumberland Basin with the old gas works opposite SS Great Britain, which was still largely a hulk then. I think the masts didn't go up until early 80s. That open stretch could get surprisingly rough. Fun times... sorry probably too much.
