I feel like we haven't even scratched the surface of what the weight of long covid and all the extra deaths are really going to mean for us in the long term. There's just so many people whose lives have been shut down in serious ways, so many people who are no longer with us who should still be. I don't know how long it'll take for us to start really coping with it, and doing something honest about it. We're certainly still acting, overall, as if it's just not actually happening (when it clearly is).

    @zkat@fedi.zkat.tech Gosh, I have too many opinions about this. But what needs to happen is so incredibly clear: clean indoor air mandated everywhere, starting with schools and medical facilities. Followed by transit hubs, sports facilities, and eating areas. Step 0 for all of this is prevention. And clean air everywhere has GDP-percentage-points levels of returns on the economy. It's legitimate insanity it isn't policy everywhere.
