One of the new sections would have added even more cycle tracks on Carling Ave eastbound, all the way to the project limits. As the City is going to be digging up the road anyway, the cost would have been reduced, but again the City decided to cut the cycle track short. This means an increased cost for a future cycle track and destroying recently completed work. And before anyone at the City mentions there is no space for cycle tracks… there is space that can be taken from the large median.

The last section is Kirkwood Avenue under the 417. Highways are known to be major barriers to people who bike. Even though they are going to be digging up the road, the City has decided to do nothing, missing a great opportunity. If you reduce the median and adjust the lanes, it would be possible to put a Multi Use Pathway (MUP) on one side of the road.
