Doubled the video RAM in a computer I have for $10: taking a S3 Virge from 2 MB to 4 MB. :P This has no real practical effect beyond bumping the highest resolutions and color depths I can use in Windows... and anything over 800x600 is too blurry on the monitor I'm using anyway. It's still a Virge, it still runs Quake at literally less than half the fps of the CPU in software rendering at 320x200 while having awful dithering, lol. (The more useful mod I did to it was replacing the Video BIOS ROM with a modified version that disables a register that causes all Virges with the stock video BIOS to have terrible black levels.) #retrocomputing
