@feditips@mstdn.social really not getting the instances thing but I’m struggling along using hashtags. That will have to do. I’m not techie so there’s that.

@janescanlan@mastodon.world Instances are like email servers. You have the big "free" ones like mastodon.social or mastodon.uk, but also company, community, and personal ones such as phpc.social. And hopefully soon news organisations have their own too. https://mattbrown.dev/mastodon/ explains it better, and is a lot nicer looking 🙂
