Funny, I have walked country side for years, but I never crossed a red hawthorn, until 2 weeks ago at the nearby supermarket.
Though I have crossed paths with both monogyna and laevigata species, it was the first time I saw a red one.
Is the red one a cultivar, or is it present in natural conditions somewhere ?
The ones shown in pictures here rend to make me think red variants do come from tree nurseries : one single trunk, well-designed heads.
