There was a joke I heard back around 2004. It goes like this: Rumsfeld is giving President Bush a casualty report on allied forces in Afghanistan. He ends it with, "and two Brazilian solders were killed in action." Bush goes pale and grips the desk for support. Rumsfeld is just about to call for a doctor when Bush asks him, "How many is a brazillion again?" For some reason that joke popped into my head today, and it struck me that it would fall completely flat. Not because the current president isn't believably innumerate, but because the US having allies in a foreign war is no longer realistic and the thought that the current occupant of the oval office would give two shits about any war casualties is absurd.
