In the first chapter I kept having this feeling like I was reading a really good MBD fanfic. And I don't know if it's because I've been reading so much MBD fanfic, or just her writing style, but I'm not the only one who was having that feeling. Someone else said "it feels like she is a huge fan of these characters & story too!" which, yeah, exactly. There's also, right away in the first chapter, so many callbacks to previous books in the series. Not in a boring or repetitive way, I feel. I also had the thought a couple times "wow her SecUnit voice is perfect!" before realizing oh, yeah, it would be. xD
