@ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org does this apply to supervised generation of alt text? I don’t use it myself but have heard good arguments for it. I wonder if this is a wedge issue between disability advocates and ai pessimists.

  • @congusbongus@mastodon.gamedev.place @ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org Just tried it for the first time yesterday. Edited the results as it wouldn't perceive everything that was important to me, but it saved time, made it easier to produce thorough alt text, and I don't have a problem being responsible for the results, they're pretty trivial. Longer writing no interest, I hate the style.

@congusbongus@mastodon.gamedev.place @ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org There are many valid uses for various types of AI. Sorting trash, generating video subtitles, translating... People tend to focus on the less valid uses and act like these are the only possible uses.

@congusbongus@mastodon.gamedev.place @ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org if it’s supervised, then it comes under “will anyone else read it?” since you’d be amending the output
