Biologists are usually happy to delegate knowledge about math and computer science to others, in my experience. They tend to be much nicer than mathematicians, some of whom really dislike it when someone who's not in pure math knows some math that they're not familiar with (e.g. statistics, which aren't real math because they don't understand it).
