@bigzaphod I did CS in Massachusetts from 2001-2005. When I started they had just introduced a Java intro class as an alternative to the C++ based one. CS had the highest drop rate of any major. Most people dropped out in the first year, after they slammed hard into the C++ data structures class. The labs were all Unix workstations. I remember feeling way behind because I was a Mac guy. It took years of professional development before I adjusted to the CLI.
