There is one pool type #nuclear research reactor in Greece. Its construction started in 1959 and its operation in 1961. It is located at the National Centre for Scientific Research (#Demokritos) in Athens and it generated 5 MW of power. It was shut down in 2004. Initially for an upgrade to 10 MW power, but it was not followed up and the reactor is currently under decommissioning.
