The "brick" that brought portable music to China. 🧱📼
Late 1970s. The Panasonic 2106 — the first cassette recorder widely imported from Japan. About the size of a red brick. Hence the nickname.
Before Walkmans, before boom boxes, there was this. Monophonic. Heavy. Indestructible. You carried your music on a shoulder strap like a small piece of luggage.
It wasn't cool. It was essential. The sound of a generation waking up.
