So I've already solved all these problems by having my main phone running GrapheneOS and locked down from any google play apps, so this is just complaining because I think it might be helpful for someone else. I started a job that requires me to use apps from the google play store, and I'm not putting that garbage on my main phone, so I borrowed an unneeded phone from my partner, and went in to get a prepaid phone plan on it, knowing that I'd only be using it for work. Yes, I know that legally I don't have to, and I can try to make the employer pay for it. No, this is not useful to me right now in this situation. I get the prepaid phone plan, and then I get t-mobile pestering me to set up some bullshit. I want the stupid fucking notifications to go away so I go through the bullshit setup. There's a screen in the "recommended for you!" apps that doesn't allow you to deselect all the apps. To get through it, you've got to allow the program to install some of the bullshit games. Okay, fine, whatever. Well, I just checked my data usage, and the games that t-mobile's bullshit setup wouldn't let me refuse to install took up 2 whole fucking gigabytes of my 5 gigabyte prepaid plan. This is some fucking bullshit, and I'm glad that I stepped away from corpo tech a while ago because I would be putting my head through a wall if I had to deal with this constantly. Or more likely, do what most everyone else in the US seems to be doing when faced with endless bullshittery, which is slowly slide farther and farther into apathy and complacency, as the disrespect to our technological autonomy is constantly reinforced.

I know on fedi the complaint is so common as to be cliche, but I REALLY don't fucking want shit to be installed on my phone without me specifically asking for it. Holy shit, technology is such a massive pain in the ass because corporations make money from making our lives worse to sell us shit we don't need. Is this really the future that we have built?
