Update! A friend of mine playtested a bit and found: 1: A wrong warp on the first dungeon 2: A missing sprite replacement 3: Some errors in the script So I'll get a clean rom copy and pass all sprite sheets straight to it, and recheck the script. This should be a fast process, since I'm pretty sure that 1. was caused by me being sloppy with the hex editor, and 2. just means I have to do one extra replacement and that's it. 3. is looking for the word "boy".
