Also alcohol is incompatible with certain medications.
Then there is the other reason for not drinking, which is, preferring to ingest one's empty calories in pastry or other non-alcoholic yet delicious form.

It’s nobody else’s business what medication you take or why you take it. But that answer usually will shut down the questioning, most people can relate to that so they don’t probe any further.
