I mean, no I can't name a famous living scientist, but I think it would be an error to personalise this poll and make it a case of individual ignorance.
In the mid twentieth century, scientists were often public intellectuals. Everyone knew who Einstein was.
Now, the role of science in popular culture has declined. There aren't scientists regularly appearing on chat shows.
If there are science influencers, their reach is smaller. We don't have Life magazine to make people nationally known.
The way science is funded, published, and carried out has also dramatically changed.
