@lyrial@transfem.social lyrial, I am a developer of wafrn. so a few things out of the way first. We don't want to be mbin? I am not sure where you got that. We had some fixes done to make groups (which includes mbin and lemmy stuff) properly federate but that's all. No one does "fedi" properly, because there is no unified spec. We do so much stuff on-top of ActivityPub that is so hard to track between all this different software that it's difficult to really come to a conclusion on what "The fediverse protocol" is. Just misskey alone has so many extra fields and semantics that aren't in any other software that have caused common features to have several different implementations. No, we do not rely on AT Protocol. We can optionally use it but you can just… not set it up. In our codebase we're still fedi-first. In fact, it's easier to configure when you simply don't setup anything ATProto related. Regarding "good", we have people here that like it here. What is "Good" is subjective and this post was entirely not aimed at you, which isn't new to fedi. This post was aimed at people new to Wafrn specifically because I co-moderate the flagship wafrn instance where most people trying this software will end up on.
