@cj@i.write.codethat.sucks @quad@masto.quad.moe @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com @howl@social.zxq.co were they really doing that? Anyway, that's still less invasive than tracking mouse cursor movement on websites. I don't mind publishers sifting through webserver access logs to figure out who (IP, user agent) opens which URLs. But anything clientside is too much IMO.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe @howl@social.zxq.co @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com @cj@i.write.codethat.sucks Well yeah they do. Stuff like membership cards at your local grocery store also exist to track everything you buy and to shove coupons down your throat so overall turnover is higher. Which is another thing I like. I feel it's fine if you flat out give them some info they can calculate with it. But them taking information you didn't clearly give them permission to annoys me.

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe @lain@pleroma.soykaf.com @quad@masto.quad.moe @cj@i.write.codethat.sucks you can never get as invasive as facebook on mobile tracking your facial expressions to understand whether you liked a post
