@teotwaki@mastodon.online I'm actually going to leave that in even when the spare arrives, as I'm generally curious to see how various materials survive real world use. The return spring in the part is very weak, as is the solenoid itself, I can stop the solenoid from moving with just keeping a finger there against the plunger. Since the coilstop (the part that stops the plunger) is integrated in the bottom, I can only assume the material has been extremely bad. There are similar brackets in strong and often used coils, such as bumpers and I have machines from the 70s that still have the original brackets in use. There's absolutely no reason for a rarely used, weak coil to break its bracket like this.
