@mjj@mstdn.dk @jezra@pleroma.jezra.net honestly my nostalgia with Identi.ca is more about the community and not so much about the interface (which went throughout a few different ones anyways, laconi.ca and pump.io being what I remember the best). But hey, it'd be cool if any Identi.ca client were updated to be compatible with today Fediverse, too! And I love the minimalistic style in that specific client, I don't know how I didn't hear of it back in the times!

@unknownpseudoartist@musician.social @mjj@mstdn.dk my introduction to microblogging was with identi.ca, and I was lead there by @methoddan@mastodon.social and @fabsh@streamers.social during the !LinuxOutlaws days. For me the fediverse has always been a tightknit community of people who shared a passion for *something* Linuxy related, and it was sharing of non-linux stuff that brought a human-ness and a bonding to the community. Now the fediverse has expanded massively, or so I am told, but at its heart is a small community. More specifically, it is a massive collection of small communities, with each 'community' being specific to 1 user. My community on the fediverse is the one I make based on the accounts I follow. There is no algorithm 'suggesting' accounts and there are no ads. My fediverse community really hasn't changed that much in the past 16 years. We probably had it easy back then; meeting on the LO forums, and then continuing on indenti.ca. But today? I have no clue how someone joining the fediverse finds/builds their community in a way that engages. It is easy enough to follow someone, but interactions with others can be difficult. Now htat I think about it, Community needs to be more than just the fediverse, which is a good building block, but more blocks are needed to actually build. Recording for @hpr@infosec.exchange, sending feedback to podcast hosts, making and sharing things; all of this builds. @evan@cosocial.ca started something amazing, and it helped me find "my people". @joeress@mastodon.social took the podcast torch, and created a podcast family that exposed me to new ideas, opinion, and tech. The creating and sharing by others, inspires me to create and share; it is the soul of my community. I stand on the shoulders of giants.
