Nazi Capitulation Day is a good day to take a step back, try to look past the shifting baseline, and really take in how normalized the far right has once again become across Europe. How different the public attitudes towards the far right are just compared to ten years ago. Or even more so compared to twenty years ago, when people used to ask with incredulity in their voices how so many Germans could vote for the nazis. It's been awhile since I heard that question.
