today i saw a lady on her balcony, talking on the phone, going in and out of the house, just casually bringing out snacks for a crow waiting on the railing, putting them down matter-of-fact-ly within their reach, not even bothering to look (or smartly avoiding looking as to not startle the bird), going about her business as usual, with her important phonecall. the crow tensed a little bit as she reached out her hand to the railing, but that's about it. they've got a good thing going on, i've never been able to get our urban crows that close. admittedly we'd usually toss a peanut, that might be a bit more startling and aggressive
