@Willow@chaosfem.tw I wasn't perimenopausal, but according to my surgeon the oldest trans person he had with 39 years. I started T when I was 36 which was 10 years ago and the utter euphoria when I realized my voice was changing cannot be described. My period stopped practically right away cos they kickstarted me on two extreme high doses in a span of four weeks (which seems unusual as far as others report?) So effects set in almost instantly after two or three weeks. My vocal cords actually ached kinda bad with how fast things were changing.
I loved to witness how the fat distribution worked. Thighs and hips lost fat and trousers fit so much better. It was so weird to actually notice that even my cheeks and my throat lost fat ๐
I did a lot of sports back then and my results soared high without more practice. The facial hair growth is amazing. I have more than most of the men around me ๐
Negative parts exist as well of course. For me as an ace person the hightened libido is a real fucking annoying thing. Who the fuck has time for that ๐ฅน the hair growth doesn't stop and by now I have more in common with a bear than a man ๐คฃ unfortunately, the hair I grow on my body, I lose on my head. Which. Not cool tbqh. But oh well ๐ฌ
My period stopped immediately but the period cramps I've always had went into unbearable and I was non functional from pain for two days every couple of weeks. Only stopped after surgery.
Maybe a thing that isn't so common knowledge - right after the shot and the day after I was extremely tired during the first two or three years. Hormones working in overdrive and body needed all the energy for it and I barely could concentrate on anything.
But overall the effects were exactly what I needed to finally be comfortable with myself. My depression is gone. (Most of) My anxiety is gone. I am so much more self confident and situations I couldn't deal with before are now barely a blip on my radar. I walk into situations and handle them well that were cause for mental break downs before. I am so much more free in all aspects of my life.
