How do these experts earn their money? Working for AI companies? Promote AI products? Promote their own books, videos, newsletters about AI?
Also, once you read up on how these LLMs work, it becomes obvious they are not more likely to become sentient than it is for a library building to do the same.

I don't think they mean current AI, but the logical outcome -- and there are many people giving similar warnings with individual analyses that make sense seems like you decided to make this point, regardless of its accuracy further: they don't need sentience to be used as weapons against us
