@ariarhythmic@ohai.social I know you saw at least one of my posts before. You know my feelings about AI. I think it's important that Blender doesn't collude with AI companies on features, that it doesn't develop its own genAI tools, no chatbots, no nothing. But FOSS projects cannot really reject big lumps of money. There is very little choice, because sustaining FOSS is incredibly hard. We should not be chastising Blender in these moments, we should be supporting it.

@yurisizov@mastodon.gamedev.place @ariarhythmic@ohai.social Drawing a line is important. The other large companies aren’t built on mass theft from everyone since day one. Meshy as a sponsor still sucks. But they didn’t go for the largest tier to use it as a stunt to introduce a new integration in order to sell more shitty subscriptions and pose as a holy guardian angel with a Blender Press Release and their logo being paraded on every future Blender event. And hey - the foundation still received blood money.
