I can now scratch off the original 1996 release of Resident Evil 1 off my backlog. The more I play these old style horror games and the more comfortable I find them compared to most other people is really making me feel old. Maybe I'm just sick in the head but tank controls, fixed cameras and limited saves just havent been a deal breaker for me and I often reach the finish line with an over abundance of resources. I will say in the multiple playthroughs I did (Yes, I came to realize RE1 is in fact that short of a playthrough on a repeat.) The only time I felt genuine tension was playing on original hardware when I didnt have auto aim and quick turn and dying would mean a solid few minutes of loading screens and menu navigating, really you're more scared of wasted time than any zombies, dogs or Hunter alphas (They are a pain in my ass though.) Ultimately however I am glad to have finally completed it as well as the other 3 original titles. Perhaps now it's time to actually finish Code Veronica.
