Regardless of the reasons behind how I come to my conclusions, I struggle to understand why so many people chase fads that are demonstrably worse than the solutions and technologies we already have. Be it LLMs, or virtual machines, or containers, or reactive programming, or the flavor-of-the-week frontend framework. 4/5

Why do so few people seem to evaluate these things critically? If anyone knows, I might sleep better if I could figure it out. In the meantime, I'll continue to try to build solutions which help people instead of padding my resumé. 5/5

@infosec812@foojay.social I've been asking myself the same thing, and the only explanation I have - and I'm no expert in the subject - is that at the end of the day, writing software could be compared to content creation, so people use their free time just to occupy their minds reinventing wheels! I still don't fully trust this, but it's my best shot so far! 🙃
