@BenAveling@mastodon.world @matunos@mastodon.social Nothing so simplistic. Agree, “truth = inoffensive” is false. Tracy’s post can still be inoffensive for a different reason that is true. Such as: 1. It was not using an antisemitic trope 2. It’s not offensive to point out that white men still have the vast majority of power (money, political, etc.) in our world. 3. Reading diversely on purpose counters documented publishing skew. Why do you think saying so is offensive?

    @robinshipton@writing.exchange @matunos@mastodon.social None of those 3 things are offensive, whether or not they're true. The challenge is that offense is a personal thing, even situational. We can't say that someone else should/shouldn't be offended. The best we can do is guess if a 'reasonable person' would be offended. And you would agree that if the word white was swapped for any other race, what she said would be offensive?
