@nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social If we don't boost corrections, nobody will. It's not just the victim that needs to see it.

@nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social But that's exactly how the bird app works as well. I've never seen a correction rise to the top. I saw one yesterday continue to go viral while Mastodon's apology and correction was buried.

@nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social Eugen spoke of two mistakes made by the moderation team: the false-positive impersonation you mention and another case where someone was accused (incorrectly) of using a dog whistle. I haven't seen the details the second case. It's also not certain that @mergerson@mastodon.social is only referring to these two cases, so I'd advise seeking clarification before calling it misinformation.

@nafnlaus@fosstodon.org @stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social from my understanding, boosting the correction (an not the top message) is the way to handle these cases. And if you already boosted the top message, and later see the correction, boost the correction anyways.
