There's this story I read once where the protagonist was the 40th or so clone of a rich guy, and he'd worn this body out, so they grew a new clone and transferred his mind to it and sent him off to a labor camp where this old guy was in charge and did the whole boot camp thing for a year until the next clone showed up.
So he asked if he could train #41, the bastard who sent him to the camp. Let the old guy retire.
And they said he never would, he was #1.
