It's not my job to critique your idea; it's your job to say why it would be better than the status quo. If you can't do that, the status quo wins by default. It's like King of the Hill.

@mariusor@metalhead.club You did answer my concerns, which I appreciate. I think your proposal is compatible with the mediaUpload structure -- it gives a fallback structure if there's no JSON-LD payload. So, a multipart/form-data with just the file part, or even an image/jpeg or another binary type as the top-level type.
