still unable to dislodge goulish googley eyes play services from even the basic phone & messaging function of what is supposedly a phone with a sim by an external provider, the "you must ..." is enough to keep looking for ways to not have to at all, yet after installing Quick as phone/messenging app it fails to send a message at all ... info, links, tech support wildly appreciated ...
