Back in the day, when twitter was growing, there was a vibrant blogging and tech-press ecosystem that helped people understand what was happening. All of that is gone now, so much explaining the Fediverse has fallen to often lazy journalists, random Twitter celebrities, and earnest but clueless social climbers. It's not helping.
