@joey while I think that it's appropriate for classes to be challenging, I have heard from my advisor that he felt that MIT classes were needlessly hard and thus didn't provide the most learning possible---they passed the point of diminishing returns. On the other hand, you are not teaching MIT students. But I would not pride myself solely on my class being difficult.
