If you’re voting in local elections in England today, don’t forget to bring your photo ID. And when you get to the polling station, don’t forget to make a formal complaint about having to bring your photo ID.

@adactio@mastodon.social As someone from Spain - where in theory is illegal to not carry your national ID, courtesy of the dictatorship years - it's enlightening to read all this. But then again, the id is quite easy to get and not expensive at all. And yes, we need to show it when voting, but we also get a mail beforehand telling us which building and table to go. You cannot vote in person in other places.
