RE: https://mathstodon.xyz/@tao/116477356329813670 Intersting... this analogy implies proof writing might become more of a hobby or perhaps a recreational ritual similar to gardening, garden farming and hunting. I have this whole theory of humans always finding out new ways to condense and compress their knowledge gathered. Like how we invented writing and books, which was followed by computers and high density storage devices. Now that we have advanced just enough, and all the proof writing and mathematical rigorousness in all sorts of fields, especially mathematical physics were posing more friction against free and more intuitive thinking, essentially stopping us form developing elegant instincts. This was also making all the fields atp, less and less accessible. By less accessibility, I mean one would have to study a high volume of text and "knowledge" before developing just enough instincts to contribute and see new and take unconventional approaches. I personally feel, that mathematics has become much more accessible for me than it was 2 years back when these LLMs did not perform as well as they are today. And I have thought enough to not solely give credits to my increased maturity over the past two years, even with increased maturity, I can totally imagine the amount of inaccessibility I would have been facing. I shall write more about this compression of gathered knowledge theory of mine.
