I just encountered this really interesting hypothesis. Over the course of evolution, our digestive system initially increased in size but later shrank. It is theorized that humans began offloading some of the digestive workload to external processes, such as using fire to cook food and break down starches. Similarly, while human brains increased in size over much of our evolutionary history, there is evidence they may now be shrinking. My theory is that we have begun outsourcing some cognitive tasks to external systems, such as silicon-based technologies and AI. This sits well with my earlier ideas.
