@Cognessence@social.linux.pizza that pairing up of disparate sources is something i've been meaning to incorporate more in my recent stuff, had not really put it into conscious thought as such, but it's very illuminating. i think the whole ai thing made me want to inject more organic-ness into what i create. love that ravel anecdote, guy was basically doing sound design. i often wonder what composers of that era/earlier would've made with computers. probably not anything suited to the tastes of classical listeners

@Cognessence@social.linux.pizza oh also, tangentially related to what you were mentioning about rubbery sounds, if you like those and you've somehow never heard them i highly recommend the errorsmith releases he put out on his own label, the two self-titled ones (the white label and the one with the yellow boot) as well as the near disco dawn comp. absolute treasure trove of "sound design that sounds like rubber"
