@davidjamesweir I never expected to get into rhododendrons but got hooked in my early 20's and created a collection of cuttings from the collection at Barnhourie Mill and the dear Dr Paton who was already in her 90's at that point. My garden is full of mature specimens now :)

  • @_timemit_ As a teenager I had a few in my mum’s garden that I had bought with pocket money or persuaded other people to buy or give me… and I used to bug my dad about visiting gardens with good collections. But since then my parents have moved, I live in a flat in a different country and nothing of my little collection is left, so I can simply admire other people’s rhododendrons - and of course Rh. tomentosum, which grows everywhere here…
